You didn’t say that

"Yahan caste par vote hota hai, vikas par nahin (people vote on caste lines, not on development)."

– Laloo Prasad Yadav [Source: IE]

The hopelessly inaccurate statement of the year! I am glad it is.

The statement is not inaccurate. The alliances and voting patterns were still heavily caste based … just that this time another bloc won. Read this:

Varun, I agree that voting patterns still are the same but thankfully this time the results seem to suggest a changing trend. Of course, we can’t expect an overnight change.

What you are saying is true. Such deep rooted thinking will not change overnight. Even I welcome the change in the government in Bihar. Though I am very sceptical whether this change will result in any changes for the people of Bihar. One set of goondas has been replaced by another set. But maybe, just maybe they will be a little better than their predeccesors…

What I was pointing out in my previous comment is that your concluding statement “The hopelessly inaccurate statement of the year!” is inaccurate…

Varun, Ok I failed to give the context but if you read the IE article, it reported Laloo scoffing at the exit polls which in fact turned out to be true.

I agree with Varun. The statement does hold true in our state of Bhihar. Hopefully the lesser corrupt government does minimum damage to the already screwed up state.
