Passing the Buck no more
Salman Khan finally got his wish granted. Well, almost. "The court can hang me. I am tired of such lengthy proceedings," Khan ‘thundered’ once at court. The court called his bluff and sentenced to a year’s imprisonment for an eight-year old case. They should have granted his wish; after all he was asking for it.
Bollywood of course has its own share of jokers opining on this issue. "This is ridiculous. There were other actors too, but I don’t understand why Salman alone was targeted. How come the others were acquitted while he alone was sentenced? Was it written on the bullet that killed those blackbuck that Salman had fired the shot?" wonders producer-director Ravi Chopra [source: Rediff]. Mr.Chopra, currently we are focusing on granting the wish of apna Sallu Bhai who asked to be hanged. Let others ask for something similar, we’ll definitely grant their wishes. You want to say something? No? Not anymore? Ok. And also, under Indian law we do not admit bullets that come printed with the assailant’s name; sadly technology hasn’t progressed that far [it should, though].
But why are you getting so fidgety about, Mr. Chopra? Tera bhai lagta hai kya? The next line shed more light on Chopra’s keen analysis of Sallu’s legal defense. Ravi Chopra, who is directing Baabul with Salman, Amitabh Bachchan (damn! does he act in all Bollywood movies these days) and Rani Mukherji. The film is to be released in June, but Chopra believes it will now be postponed. "I think I will have to push it to a September release," he says. Ah-ha! if your movie was already out (and bombed), we wouldn’t be hearing such pearls of wisdom, would we? Pass the buck, I say and hang the Khan. He wants us to.
