Tony, that has nothing to do with blogging engine. It all depends on the CSS.

The advantage of wordpress is the vast availability of exciting plugins, and the ease of making one’s own, since wordpress is open source.

It's not fully participatory (something that we see in Digg), and I understand all this is necessary to maintain standards. But on certain occasions it indeed showed web 2.0 characteristics. 1. The recent wiki experiment on articles on blogging. 2. Issue based posts like IIPM and Cobra Sting that collected posts from blogosphere related to the issue. However, Desipundit's aim, I think, is not to prove itself as web 2.0, but to showcase a consolidation of the Indian blogosphere. And I think it's doing a damn good job at that. Mostly because I have been seeing lot of cool WP blogs than I have seen MT blog.
