Nerve Endings Firing Away

Today, Ash celebrates her 22nd birthday.

Happy birthday, dear! Don’t worry, no online surprises this year. It has been a great year since your last birthday. We were in a difficult place last year and not sure of our future. I was almost ready to pack my bags to go back to India. But things took a turn for the better almost immediately after your birthday and here we are, in graduate school (for me; still!) in towns separated by less than hundred miles by a stroke of fortuitous luck. You come down almost every weekend and after your baby (it is a car before the readers jump to any conclusions) has arrived, I hope the commute is a lot easier. I am glad that you do it for us and I wish I could do as much for you. But looks like things seem to better with each passing year, so I bet next year would be much better.
