Rs. 500 for a kiss
New Delhi authorities, tired of ‘moral degradation’ has imposed a fine of Rs. 500 if couples are caught making ‘illegal uses’ of public spaces. Pray, what is illegal here? And will the authorities allow couples to continue kissing after they have paid up their fine? I would sure like to organize a kiss marathon in a New Delhi public park after collecting Rs. 500 as registration fees to cover for the fines. Would that be legal, huh?
How about the various ‘illegal activities’ happening in the Parliament? After all, it is a public space too. I demand an explanashun!

Yoho,
I already ranted about it on my blog…
4 years ago replyPatrix,
In fact, I mentioned something similar to my wife yesterday when she mentioned it to me. The best way to spite this ridiculous regulation is to organise a mass kiss-in in front of the Supreme Court or the Parliament. Kistyagraha.
4 years ago replyNitin, Kistyagraha…hilarious. Now, that’s something that the youth won’t have to be coerced into joining.
Confused, send a trackback dude.
4 years ago replyI ranted about it first!
hehehe
ok. I am little dumb. How does one send a trackback?
(And hey, if I take anything with your blog, will always link it.)
4 years ago replyHey,
You think I took that story from you and blogged about it without giving you a link?
Sorry dude, but I am very careful in such matters. If I take anything from your site or any other site I will always give due credit.
I had put up that post about 6 hours back. Unfortunately, wordpress does not show the timings.
later
4 years ago replyConfused, no re baba…you think too much. I know you would send me a trackback if you mention me and likewise for you too.
4 years ago replyAll rito…
My Professors tell me I think too little. :)
Anyways, sire-done.
4 years ago replyI think I have to create a “moral policing” category on my blog :|
4 years ago replyNo favatars? :|
4 years ago replyConfused, now did I emotionally blackmail you into doing that? :)
BD, I have thought about doing that too or even rather have a moral policing special blog. Favatars?
4 years ago replyYou did, You did!
Actually, I was inspired by this.
”Link to good sites – hoping for a return favor . Don’t expect “The week†and “The hindu†to link you back; I meant link to good blogs”
Now where is my return favor? :)
Juss kidding.
4 years ago replyConfused, NEFA is no DesiPundit. My hits and rankings for NEFA have fallen sharply since I moved to this new domain. But don’t worry, I’ll remember you.
4 years ago replyI was kidding! No quid pro quo involved.
btw, shifting domain matters that much? I would have thought regular readers would follow anyways.
How will I know? No one read me when I was on blogspot, no one reads me now I am on wordpress.:)
4 years ago replyConfused, shifting domains DOES matter. Regular readers do follow you but you lose out on visitors via Google (which are good for your Adsense banners). Also, many bloggers do not update their blogroll (my Typepad blog was linked by 138 blogs but iPatrix is linked by only 51), so the Technorati ranking falls as well. But I guess, if I stick with this domain, that loss was temporary.
Anyway, if you don’t really care about this, it doesn’t matter. And I don’t think I believe your “no one reads me” crib :)
4 years ago replyIts just legalizing something that already existed, earlier they used to take the 500 below the belt. Now, they’ll just ask for it up front, frankly saving everybody a lot of time.
4 years ago replyJatin, I assume you mean “below the table”. Below the belt might have a different connotation. Maybe the “below the table” rate is much lower. Who knows? Let us know if you are ever caught.
4 years ago replyPatrix,
At risk of being branded moral police (or worse uncool).
Let me ask this, where do we draw the line ?
I do not know the answer, but I am uncomfortable with this “anything goes” revolution.
