Thinking Password
I am thinking…of my password to login in to my workstation. Yup! that day may not be too far. Wired News reported current research being done to make this science fiction stuff a reality. You may be able to use your thoughts as a password for better security. The theory behind this concept is that everyone has a distinct set of brainwaves even if they are thinking of the exact same thing.
I have always fantasized of hooking up our brain to the Internet – ‘wirelessly’, of course. Scary as that might sound, better be prepared when that day finally arrives. Tap just above your head to check if you have any new email or heck, just think of that particular email address and it checks itself. I bet that would be irritating sometime when you are in middle of something and you get a notification that ‘you got mail’. Your partner instantly kicks you in the right (for her; wrong for you) place asking you to get back to what you were doing. But now, you’ve lost the moment. Now if that’s a fantasy I have to get some help.
Also, have those researchers given a thought to the passwords that people use? The email clients mostly at work require you to have a password not found in the dictionary and make it mandatory to include a special character and numerical characters. Now how the heck are you supposed to think of ‘as$24tye‘?
PS. Don’t bother checking that password for any of my email or websites. I just made it up.
Update: If you don’t have a ‘thinking password’ yet, then make sure your choice for a password is pretty strong.
