IndiCast turning 25

I don’t listen to podcasts. Don’t have the time coz I am hardly ever done reading thru my feeds on Bloglines. I tried enlisting a contributor for DesiPundit solely for podcasts but my call went unheeded. My brother however is quite a biggie in the desi podcastosphere (I think I just invented a stupid incomprehensible word; love ‘Podfather’ though). His podcast, IndiCast has made waves in the fledging Indian world of podcasts (nope, that word is never going to catch on).

Of course, Kamla’s podcasts are more professional and well-researched but I think IndiCast’s fans love its rambling and ‘tapori‘ language; probably they imagine eavesdropping on a conversation at the local naaka (junction/town square). He (and his co-host Abhishek) has been interviewed and featured on NDTV, BBC Radio, Outlook Magazine, and of course DesiPundit (heh…couldn’t resist).
It has been a year since iTunes integrated podcasts into their system thereby causing a steep rise in podcast popularity. IndiCast was once listed in the ‘New and Notable’ section on the iTunes homepage. He couldn’t stop grinning the entire time the link lasted and of course, the traffic helped.

Ever since he moved back to India, my brother has had big plans for IndiCast (under wraps now). They are planning on marking their 25th podcast episode with a special guest on the show. He hints that the guest’s job is considered the 5th toughest in the world. Anyone care to guess? Keep tuned and listen in.

Thanks Patrix for the mention. I just realized that I completed “Golden Jubilee” for my current show :-)

All the best to the folks at Indicast.

Kamla, I bet the guys at IndiCast look to you for inspiration.

Ph, I hope you like it…be warned that they may not sound that erudite or at least they don’t proclaim to be.
