Comedy takes on Religion

As one astute observer noted, your belief in God and religion diminishes as you grow older and expectedly get smarter. Of course, it doesn’t happen to all. I cannot confess on being a pure atheist, unlike some of my smarter blogger friends but I am getting increasingly skeptical of religion and its potential to do harm.

Even the most rational argument as espoused by noted scientists like Richard Dawkins and Carl Sagan falls on deaf ears and the responsibility of showing people the light, no pun intended, falls on comedians. Comedy achieves far more than it is given credit for. Sarcasm and late-night TV has provided some of the most insightful jabs at our leaders’ obvious lack of rationale or reason for the decisions they take. In the same vein, watch these talented comedians (for lack of a better word) take on religion [via]:

I have filed this post under Education also as it must be seen as such; some of the language notwithstanding. Featured comedians include Jon Stewart, Ronan Atkinson, Stephen Colbert, Denis Leary, George Carlin, Ricky Gervias, and David Cross.
