Tit for Tat Cartoon Contest

The Holocaust Cartoon Contest was organized [by Iran] in response to the Danish cartoon controversy. The results are in and the above cartoon by Moroccan cartoonist Abdellah Derkaoui was awarded $12,000. It shows an Israeli crane erecting large cement blocks obstructing the view of Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. The montage on the wall is that of the Auschwitz concentration camp, one of the sites of the Holocaust. We know that the Islamic fundamentalists deny the Holocaust occurred.

Now that it is tit for tat, I guess it should be ok to publish cartoons of Mohammad. The Iranian response was so mature, right? Anyway, it is better than rioting and issuing death threats.

Yeah. Actually just like Danish cartoons, it is a pretty bad one.

But seriously, what is more offensive? A cartoon about a Prophet or about 6 million dead?

But as you said, its far better than rioting.

Confused, yeah…no one debated the quality or intent of the cartoons. The reaction to anything offensive is violence. That pisses me off. Typical goonda culture.

What suprised me was that the Reward was in American Dollars. Isnt Iran Riah of not much value outside the state?
