Saddam’s Death Sentence
India has reacted guardedly to the verdict, saying that such verdicts should not appear to be ‘victor’s justice’ and should be acceptable to the people of Iraq and the international community. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) denounced the Iraqi High Tribunal verdict and demanded intervention by the Central government to get it rescinded [source].
WTF? First Afzal Guru and now Saddam, does India have a thing for Islamic murderers? Capital punishment arguments aside, sometimes I wonder why is leniency sought only for *some* convicts who have had the right to due process of the law. Either you don’t trust the legal system or you have an agenda that is clearly skewed.
Now I have no qualms for labeling the Indian commies as being totally wacko. Does anything that America does have to be ‘rigged’ for them? I assume they consider the ‘highly transparent’ legal systems and ‘fair’ trials of the Chinese. Also, why the f*** does the Indian central government have to intervene to get the verdict rescinded? Is it in Indian interests or for that matter, is it even morally right let alone politically feasible? I don’t suppose Saddam’s trial was even followed by the Indian media and this verdict apart from the cursory ‘did-you-know’ reaction will not grab the people’s attention beyond a day.

Considering the present political scene, I wouldn’t be surprised if the commies came forward to support Saddam. There is an even bigger murderer who heads the world’s largest military power, a serial murderer responsible for genocides in Iraq and Afghanistan, the whacko from Waco – George W Bush. Why not try him? He is a Christian fundamentalist and takes his bath in the blood of thousands of civilians. Muslim or not, the deeds of Saddam Hussien pale in comparison to what this born again Christian radical douche bag has done, directly/indirectly for murdering people to spread ‘demahcacy’ in Eye-raq and Afgaanistaaaan, all for his cabinet’s own personal gain. Ultimately, what the Americanos do boils down to business in the end.
3 years ago replyKarat is a bloody idiot. I am sorry but thats what he is. I don’t know on what basis some islamic parties and the Left are saying the trial has been a sham.
FACT: He killed thousands of people. And this was well proven during the lengthy court case. So where does the problem arise?
Yes, IMO Bush should also be tried for war crimes. Some of the methods the U.S. have used in Iraq are atrocious but you cannot defend Saddam saying that the whole case was a sham because there was an american hand in it.
Karat is a bloody idiot. So is that Raja. And fucking hyprocrites too.
3 years ago replySaddam an islamic murderer? I was under the impression that he was not a religious fundamentalist. Dictator he might have been.
By the way I guess Mr Bush has killed more Iraqis than Saddam.. you think he ought to be tried fro war crimes?
I also think that the communist party of India have a right to their opinion and need not toe the line of the americans.
3 years ago replyWhoa, people! I guess everyone is out to get Bush so let us keep our eye on the ball here for a moment. Bush is no doubt a nincompoop and erred badly by invading Iraq but we are talking about Saddam. Indicting Bush in a war crimes trial will be done only when the United States is invaded and we know that is not happening anytime soon :)
Asterix, by Islamic murderer I meant a murderer who is a Muslim. The commies seem to have a soft corner for them. Mind you, other murderers are condemned to the gallows according to them. I know, vote bank politics is the reason but they could be a bit less obvious about it.
