What Manhattan might look like if sea levels continue to rise

[source]

Update: Note that this is an exaggeration and levels might not rise to this level at least in the near future.  I just like the visual imagery.

The sea is expected to rise by 7m in a 1000 years. Even if we take the worst case scenario, we certainly won’t live to see this.

This picture is sensationalism at best, if you would believe the data I have. Realistically, Iceland’s ice is melting, but not as fast as people with red flags that “global warming” are claiming to be.

The rise is about 38cm in 100-years. I say this because people living below the sea level are far more worried than those above, and they’re getting some real data.

This image may be misleading. Climate change, as it is happening now, is dangerous indeed. I don’t think that we need sensational pictures to make that point. This is not to say that sea level wouldn’t rise to very high levels if Greenland ice sheet started to melt for good, but this image probably is exaggerating it. I am afraid that such images alienate people who may not have yet realized the gravity of the climate change problem.

I agree that the image might be exaggerating and probably Al Gore’s images in his docu-movie were closer to the truth. If the image alienates people, they weren’t believing in global warming anyway.

    Patrix,
Do you have a link to Al Gore’s images from the movie?

    Santosh, I’m sorry I couldn’t locate them.
