Sanjaya Malakar in last 16

…but barely scraping by. But not according to Dial Idol, which ranked him #2 below Sundance Head. I don’t think the American Idol contestants are checking out the buzz otherwise they wouldn’t be so tense on judgment day. He didn’t have the best of the performances and was actually ripped apart by the judges. But then, hey all that cool look with the hat and long hair, the voting population which I am sure consists mostly of screaming teenage girls have no problems. For the record, I don’t vote.

Sanjaya looked awfully tense when he was asked to step down on the stage along with fellow contestant AJ Tabaldo. It seemed that he knew that he was going home because it was the second time in a row that his fate hung in balance at the end of the show. He looked genuinely shocked when it was announced that he was safe. He was speechless even when Ryan tried to probe (now, now get your mind out of the gutter.)

I guess his singing style (remember John Stevens from a few seasons ago) isn’t suited for the ultimate prize. He has the looks and the personality but probably doesn’t have the versatility that most American Idol winners have. His genre isn’t popular enough to go all the way. But wishing him all the best for as far as he can.

Bloghopper, never mind…explashun will ruin it. If it helps, Ryan Seacrest is often teased by Leno for being gay which I’m sure he is not.
