Herschelle Gibbs’ Six Sixers

I returned home a few hours back and had missed all the action in the Cricket World Cup (and March Madness) so far. But aside from seeing the vastly weakened Pakistani and West Indies sides battle it out and other minnows being massacred by cricketing powers, I thought I didn’t miss much.

Until I read this report on Rediff that Herschelle Gibbs finally achieved the impossible in international cricket – hitting six sixers in one over. Of course, Gary Sobers and Ravi Shastri had achieved it before but that was first class cricket. No international bowler would be that stupid to repeat a bad ball six times. But thanks to ICC’s largesse to extremely weak countries like Holland, one of their bowlers Daan van Bunge got a taste of real cricket. I bet most of us missed the live action of this historic feat but you miss nothing in the age of YouTube. Sure, those were six bad balls but a six is a six. So here is the amazing feat in its full glory:
