If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or email alerts. Thanks for visiting!
After Feedburner began reflecting subscriptions from Google Readers, almost every site experienced a spike in traffic. So did DesiPundit. Abi had requested a feed subscriber count for DesiPundit then but I hadn’t delivered on that promise. So here it is:

This is an average weekday subscription count. It isn’t too high but high enough for the average Indian blog (then again, it isn’t your average Indian blog.) As you see, Google-based readers account for nearly 40% of the share with Bloglines, the previously thought-of popular online feed reader comes in a close second at 30%. Rest is made up by Netvibes, Firefox Live Bookmarks, and other readers. The Feedblitz number shows our readers who receive the DesiPundit feed via email. I hope you consider adding an email subscription after seeing that figure.
And while we are on feed counts, this blog also has experienced a sudden surge of subscribers, (possible) reasons for which I’ll elaborate in a later post.

Again Google is the mai-baap of blog readers.

Wow! Thanks for heeding my request. More thanks for sharing this info!
I think it’s fabulous that nearly 1600 people read DP’s feed!
I sort of expected that the Google FeedFetcher would outshine Bloglines by a factor of at least 2. I’m a little surprised that it’s higher by just 20% or so.

Abi, the feed count impressed me too although I had expected it to be at least 2K :) And I guess, Bloglines usage points to veteran readers/bloggers who haven’t migrated to other feed readers such as Google.
