To be fair, Google did admit that it was wrong of them to do so and hurt their image. <b>Siupg</b>, you are right that the opt-out option will only be exercised by those who are aware of the problem. You may think that street views are nothing great but I believe they certain add a different perspective in visualizing the space from eye-level. The zoom feature may have been intended for obtaining details of businesses on the street and as with any technology, it can be used for nefarious purposes. I think the Street views were nothing great. Frankly speaking I think they are there to create controversy and publicity rather than give out any useful information. For example, microsoft live maps still beats the crap out of google - and yes, u can rotate around views, rotate angles and do all your crap - sans the people and invading their privacy.
