Clicking on Bookmarks

Academic commitments have prevented me from posting for the past few days so thankfully Ash pitched in with the review of the latest Harry Potter book. However, the same academic commitments didn’t keep me from reading the book and although I’ll not write a review, I’ll pitch in with a few thoughts sometime soon.

If you are an RSS subscriber, you might have seen a sudden surge in del.icio.us links. I apologize because I hadn’t expected Feedburner to post the links from the last seven days when I added del.icio.us to my feed. That brings up an important question that I wanted to ask y’all – do you ever click on my deli.icio.us bookmarks that sit right at the top of my homepage? Please vote in the attached poll so that I can decide if it is even worth consuming prime real estate:

As I mentioned, I added my del.icio.us bookmarks as a ‘daily digest’ to my feed today. The reaction to this feature is mixed and depends on the blog readership. Let me know what you think:

    Patrix, I think you should stick to the bookmarks feature, although I access your site thru Reader and anyhow I take a look at your bookmarks thru subscription to your delicious account.
    It definitely is a daily stop for me along with the “Movies I’ve Watched” which I keep track of once a week… your ratings match mine closely :)

    Talking about Movie ratings, WTF is After Sunrise? Did you mean Before Sunrise/Sunset or the horrible ‘After the Sunset’?

    And yeah, I tend to visit your site anyway to comment on it. So, I do click on the bookmarks. Anyhow, I wouldn’t mind the extra digest of links on my feed as long as it’s not an avalanche like it was today :)

    The daily digest does not hurt. (Infact from the “sudden surge” I picked up a few interesting ones).

    But I(and I think is true for almost all smart people who use some kind of feed reader) hardly ever visit the site unless I want to comment (like I am doing now). And when commenting also, I hardly ever check out the site, (unless I am very free ;-)) so didn’t even know movie rating existed on sidebar!
    Btw, can I friend you on fb ?

    Piker, my bad! I meant Before Sunrise/Sunset. And don’t worry, there won’t be a surge like today. Just a daily digest of links I bookmark…sometimes more sometimes less but just in one post.

    Rk, of course, I don’t mind that people actually don’t click thru to the blog as long as they are reading the feed. It is the content that matters, right? But dropping down occasionally to comment doesn’t hurt :) Just so that I know you are still reading.

    And yeah, the plugin is quite useful and simply called WP-Polls.

    Piker, of course! I used to see his name and ‘display case’ all the time in the Heep Building where I went for my Spatial Stats classes. One of my committee members is from that department although not Borlaug, obviously!

    The Uber Masala section on UberDesi which is currently in the testing stage is nothing but del.icio.us bookmarks. You gave us that idea when we got spammed, remember?

    Santosh, that’s cool. I’m glad it worked out for you. I have tried the Asides-style of listing bookmarks in my sidebar but somehow they don’t work for me.
