Coming soon…ICL Vs IPL

BCCI is still under a culture shock. Decades of monarchy with no competition made them to take a few things for granted. Can’t blame them, can we? And when ICL “threatened” with creating a sports body, BCCI gave its knee jerk reaction to it by sacking a few players and ex players who defected. Now, after a lot of noise and little outcome, BCCI has decided to shut up!

Instead, it is all set to form a rival club called Indian Premire League (IPL) with aging superstars like Sachin, Dravid, Dada, Mc Grath, Kumble slated to join in. The League will play only twenty20 format to start with in India and then take it abroad. India, England, Pakistan, Australia, and South Africa will lend its talent for a whopping $5 million prize money. Compare that with a whimpering $1.6 million (all matches combined) for the current twenty20 world cup being hosted by South Africa. (btw, everything pales in comparison to what other sports like Tennis and soccer have to offer. Federer got richer by $2.2 million for winning the US Open 2007)

BCCI doesn’t want to get back at ICL by forming the IPL. They say it is only an effort to “revitalize” the Indian Domestic Cricket! And I say, “Whatever works man; ”

And btw, Ganapati Bappa Morya!!!
