Nerve Endings Firing Away

John Kerry finally put to rest all rumors as he predictably picked John Edwards, his erstwhile rival as his running mate. The Boston Brahmin has picked up Southern charm in his continuing quest to wrest the Presidency from the Bush cartel.

Now 120 days separate us from finding out if that ploy worked. Hopefully the move to combine Kerry’s sophistication with Edwards’ charming demeanor will tilt the scales in favor of the Democratic team. After all, being listed on the People’s magazine for Sexiest Men Alive in 2000 might at least get the Britney fans. Although I can’t imagine how, there seems to be quite a lot of them out there. But mud fights have already begun with Republicans touting Kerry’s choice as secondary after a rumored deal with another John (McCain, R-AZ) fell through. But for someone who is the second-choice candidate himself, the Bush team doesn’t make a convincing argument. CNN is drowning us in John-John news feeds and why not, after all, it is the race to the post of the world’s most powerful man.
