Infusing Religion into Politics – The Romney Way

[via Jessica Hagy] No wonder I find Republican debates amusing. Also, by the way that Mormon who desperately wants to prove that he is Christian enough just as Obama had to prove he is black enough was in College Station today (nope, I couldn’t heckle him; it was an invite-only event). Mitt Romney tried to give a JFK-esque speech trying to assuage Christian fears that he won’t Utah-ize the rest of the country. But in the end, he ended up pandering so much to the Christian right that he effectively painted atheists as worse than Muslims. Imagine that…in the United States. In trying to show that his Mormon faith wasn’t as dangerous as people thought, he upped the role of faith in U.S. politics sending it down the path that the United States often criticizes Islamic states of.
