“Monotheists are stupidly insane” – well, I don’t think this blog entry is any more enlightened or intelligent than the few bad apples who threatened this poor kid. Just because there are some few bad apples in all religions, that isn’t a very good reason to say such things about everyone of that religion, wether Islam or Christian or Hindu etc. I very poor blog entry to highlight.

anuj, in fact I strong agree with Atanu in believing that (especially monotheist) religion is primarily to blame for such ridiculousness. The blog entry merely points that out and doesn’t pretend to be enlightened or intelligent. Taking refuge in ‘few bad apples’ in religions is a petty excuse to forgive transgressions made in the name of religion.

In this case, replace Christianity with say, Wal-mart and try to explain similar intimidating behavior. Would you tolerate such high-handedness including threat to life then why is religion any different?

    Patrix,
Agree with every word of your comment except the parenthesis.

I know you’re channeling Dawkins by replacing Xtianity with Wal-Mart, but in today’s world where corporations have immense power and free-market is the new religion, probably choosing Wal-Mart is not the best example to illustrate your point. Au contraire. ;) :)

This is in reference to Niket’s comment (above and also on my blog post.)

Strictly speaking, if “monotheism” is a subset of the set “religion”, then if the post makes sense over the set, it must make sense over any of its subsets.

However, I do believe that monotheism has certain distinct properties that are not shared by non-monotheistic and non-theistic religions. It is those distinctive properties of monotheism that make it particularly harmful to peaceful co-existence of people. If you neighbors are Amish or Jain, you would not have to worry about them coming over to your place forcing you to convert to their “One True Faith(TM)” — in the case of Islam and Christianity, not only will they invite you to join their special brand of insanity, but if you refuse, they will make sure to hurry your departure to the hell they have for infidels.

It is intellectual laziness and lack of moral sense that equates all religions to be equally malignant.

It is a documented fact that many Hindus (polytheists) in India have harmed and frequently killed Christians (monotheists) so your statement that monotheists are any more or less peaceful is stupidly insane. Hindus have also frequently rioted against and killed many Muslims and Sikhs in their time.

  7. Atanu Dey said:

No, anuj_anuj, you are stupidly insane. Let me try an analogy on you. The fact that there are poor people in the US does not invalidate the claim that the US is a rich country relative to India. Let me spell it out to you as you appear to be incapable of simple logic. Both India and the US have poor people. What matters is whether overwhelmingly people of India are poorer relative to the US.

So also, that some polytheists have at some points reacted violently against monotheists is not the point. The point is whether as a matter of fact polytheists generally display violence against monotheists. Go see the evidence. The empirical fact is that monotheists do wreak havoc on a scale that pales in comparison to what the polytheists react to. It is part of the deal — monotheists believe that they have exclusive rights to the Truth and therefore they can oppress the others.

Get a frackin’ grip on the facts before you shoot yourself in the foot.

  8. anuj_anuj said:

Well, actually you really can’t state that one amount of havoc pales in comparison to the other,
you can easily work through history and come up with long lists of havoc from both sides,
so really in the end every person is flawed, the best we can do is try to work together
and make the world a better place.

Have a great weekend my polytheist friend.

    -from a monotheist.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

    John 3:16

  9. Patrix said:

anuj, in fact you can compare ‘one amount of havoc’ to other simply by looking at precedent, extent, and damage caused. We could make the world a better place but religious zealots wouldn’t let it happen lest it results in waning of their power and influence over blind and faithful followers.

BTW your quote from John 3:16 has been proved wrong multiple times over coz those who believe in ‘him’ have indeed perished sometimes undeservedly and sadly do not have everlasting life. If that doesn’t disprove the existence of ‘your’ god then nothing else can.

  10. Atanu Dey said:

anuj_anuj, now you tell me that you are a monotheist! Damn, why didn’t you say so before!!

It is unfair of me to argue with someone with so little sense as to believe in not just nonsense but the mean, vicious, violent, terrifyingly insane nonsense that is monotheism.

In his essay “The Evil of Monotheism” Gore Vidal wrote, “The great unmentionable evil at the center of our culture is monotheism. From a barbaric Bronze Age text known as the Old Testament, three anti-human religions have evolved – Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. These are sky-god religions. They are, literally, patriarchal — God is the Omnipotent Father — hence the loathing of women for 2,000 years in those countries afflicted by the sky-god and his earthly male delegates.”

Richard Dawkins in his book “The God Delusion” writes:

The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.

    . . .

Those of us schooled from infancy in his ways can become desensitized to their horror. A naif blessed with the perspective of innocence has a clearer perception. Winston Churchill’s son Randolph somehow contrived to remain ignorant of scripture until Evelyn Waugh and a brother officer, in a vain attempt to keep Churchill quiet when they were posted together during the war, bet him he couldn’t read the entire Bible in a fortnight: ‘Unhappily it has not had the result we hoped. He has never read any of it before and is hideously excited; keeps reading quotations aloud “I say I bet you didn’t know this came in the Bible . . . ” or merely slapping his side & chortling “God, isn’t God a shit!”‘ Thomas Jefferson — better read — was of a similar opinion: ‘The Christian God is a being of terrific character – cruel, vindictive, capricious and unjust.’

Your stupid god is into human sacrifice and not just that has no moral sense at all. How would you like it if for your crimes, the criminal justice system were to execute an innocent neighbor of yours? If you approve of it, you are not only a criminal but one without the least moral sense. That is the stupid sky-god of yours — first he makes people so that they can choose to “sin” and then executes someone else for atoning them. If you were not actually brainwashed stupid, you would see the horrifying insanity of this sort of morality.

I feel pity for you, anuj_anuj. You are stuck in a mentality that is more suitable for a savage in the deserts of 2000 years ago. Pity that reason has not found a place in your mental world.

Go forth in peace. This lesson is over.

anuj_anuj, I guess you do believe the shit about the rapture. So the bad news for you is that you are not a male virgin jew — and therefore don’t qualify to be among the 144,000 who will be saved by Jeebus when he comes. But I suppose you will just have to spend the rest of eternity in heaven without a head — which is not such a bad deal as it has not served much of a function on earth, evidently.

Here for the rest of the readers is what I am referring to.

It seems interesting to me that a indian living in
Texas, USA is so willing to openly state agreement
with such a ignorant statement about all monotheists
being stupidly insane, thats funny, last time I checked
Texas, USA was built and founded entirely by monotheists,
can you say “hypocrite”? you want to publish that
all monotheists are stupid, but are more than happy
to take advantage of what they built? shall I buy your
ticket back to polytheist-land,India, or will you?

also, by the way, John 3:16 can never be disproved,
the quote is referencing the life of the spirit, not the
physical life of the temporary body.

  14. Patrix said:

anuj, LOL! I guess Atanu open spanking had has no effect. Can’t blame you! Religious perverts are known to withstand more shame and torture but unwilling to blame the zealots who take you for a ride. Monotheist or polytheist, all religion is bunkum!

  15. Atanu Dey said:

anuj_anuj, you are a very stupid person. Sorry but someone had to tell this to you since you are too stupid to even figure out the depth of your own stupidity.

Your illogic is deep and all pervasive in your brain. Saying that John 3:16 can never be disproved is basically saying that it is a load of shite. Any statement that can under no conceivable circumstances be disproved is essentially meaningless. I don’t expect you to appreciate this line of reasoning — or any line of reasoning for that matter — since you have amply demonstrated your lack of reason and common sense.

Let me however give you an analogous statement that can never be disproved: “There is a tea pot that circles the sun in the asteroid belt. The teapot exists but immediately becomes invisible the moment anyone or any instrument attempts to see it.”

Now about the matter of whether the founders of Texas were monotheists or not. Perhaps they were. So what the heck is that supposed to prove? That monotheism is valid? You are an asinine idiot if you believe that the success of a state proves that some cooky ideas about god is valid. Allow me to point you to Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Bangadesh, . . . the entire list of states founded on monotheism and founded by monotheists. Get a frackin’ clue, you clueless retard.

You perhaps live in the US — I am guessing because the chances of a clueless retard getting his hands on a connected computer is higher in the US than anywhere else. Now many clueless retards claim that the US is founded on Christianity and that the founding fathers of the US were Christians. That is a clueless claim. The founders of the US were decidedly against monotheism and more specifically their dislike for Christianity is legend. They built into the constitution of the US the separation of the church and state because of this antipathy.

Here’s what Thomas Jefferson wrote about your stupid delusional religion: “I do not find in orthodox Christianity one redeeming feature.” And “The Christian God is a being of terrific character — cruel, vindictive, capricious, and unjust.”

Abraham Lincoln wrote: “My earlier views at the unsoundness of the Christian scheme of salvation and the human origin of the scriptures, have become clearer and stronger with advancing years and I see no reason for thinking I shall ever change them.”

He also said, “The Bible is not my Book and Christianity is not my religion. I could never give assent to the long complicated statements of Christian dogma.”

Thomas Paine (I don’t suppose you are familiar with his work “The Age of Reason” because reason and you are sworn enemies) wrote this of the Bible: “What is it the Bible teaches us? – raping, cruelty, and murder. What is it the New Testament teaches us? – to believe that the Almighty committed debauchery with a woman engaged to be married, and the belief of this debauchery is called faith.”

You would not understand Paine. Your brain is addled and you are beyond redemption. Paine wrote, “There are matters in the Bible, said to be done by the express commandment of God, that are shocking to humanity and to every idea we have of moral justice….”.

anuj_anuj, you are a pathetic little excuse of a human. Your belief system is so abysmally flawed that one does not even know where to begin. You are a lost cause. I bid you goodbye and say good riddance of bad rubbish.

Since you are too stupid to realize it yourself, let me state the conclusion for you: You have been flamed.

  16. anuj_anuj said:

Patrix, you’ve been living in red-state Texas, USA for quite some time,
are you telling me you have no monotheist friends?
(Im sure that can’t be true, that would be pretty pathetic)
I wonder if you managed to tell them about your “strong” agreement
that all monotheists are “stupidly insane” ?
LOL, probably not, eh? so I assume you won’t mind if I tell
all your monotheist friends, neighbors, as well as current and
    potential future employers?
funny, you probably don’t mention that to them, do you? If you won’t
take down the link for me, at least do it for them, if you value your friendships
with them and care about their friendships; it would be a bad idea if they found
    out about your secret insults.

anuj_anuj, great tactic! Having been shown that you are a pathetic dweeb, now you are telling Patrix that he should take down this post because it paints a very sorry picture of you! Wonderful.

At least make an attempt to refute what is being said instead of whining. What a disgusting spectacle you make of yourself. But that is par for the course for stupid monotheists. They whine when they are exposed to daylight.
