“Monotheists are stupidly insane” – well, I don’t think this blog entry is any more enlightened or intelligent than the few bad apples who threatened this poor kid. Just because there are some few bad apples in all religions, that isn’t a very good reason to say such things about everyone of that religion, wether Islam or Christian or Hindu etc. I very poor blog entry to highlight.
2 years ago replyanuj, in fact I strong agree with Atanu in believing that (especially monotheist) religion is primarily to blame for such ridiculousness. The blog entry merely points that out and doesn’t pretend to be enlightened or intelligent. Taking refuge in ‘few bad apples’ in religions is a petty excuse to forgive transgressions made in the name of religion.
In this case, replace Christianity with say, Wal-mart and try to explain similar intimidating behavior. Would you tolerate such high-handedness including threat to life then why is religion any different?

Strictly speaking, if “monotheism†is a subset of the set “religionâ€, then if the post makes sense over the set, it must make sense over any of its subsets.
However, I do believe that monotheism has certain distinct properties that are not shared by non-monotheistic and non-theistic religions. It is those distinctive properties of monotheism that make it particularly harmful to peaceful co-existence of people. If you neighbors are Amish or Jain, you would not have to worry about them coming over to your place forcing you to convert to their “One True Faith(TM)†— in the case of Islam and Christianity, not only will they invite you to join their special brand of insanity, but if you refuse, they will make sure to hurry your departure to the hell they have for infidels.
It is intellectual laziness and lack of moral sense that equates all religions to be equally malignant.
2 years ago replyIt is a documented fact that many Hindus (polytheists) in India have harmed and frequently killed Christians (monotheists) so your statement that monotheists are any more or less peaceful is stupidly insane. Hindus have also frequently rioted against and killed many Muslims and Sikhs in their time.

The fact that there are poor people in the US does not invalidate the claim that the US is a rich country relative to India. Let me spell it out to you as you appear to be incapable of simple logic. Both India and the US have poor people. What matters is whether overwhelmingly people of India are poorer relative to the US.
So also, that some polytheists have at some points reacted violently against monotheists is not the point. The point is whether as a matter of fact polytheists generally display violence against monotheists. Go see the evidence. The empirical fact is that monotheists do wreak havoc on a scale that pales in comparison to what the polytheists react to. It is part of the deal — monotheists believe that they have exclusive rights to the Truth and therefore they can oppress the others.
Get a frackin’ grip on the facts before you shoot yourself in the foot.

you can easily work through history and come up with long lists of havoc from both sides,
so really in the end every person is flawed, the best we can do is try to work together

2 years ago replyanuj, in fact you can compare ‘one amount of havoc’ to other simply by looking at precedent, extent, and damage caused. We could make the world a better place but religious zealots wouldn’t let it happen lest it results in waning of their power and influence over blind and faithful followers.
BTW your quote from John 3:16 has been proved wrong multiple times over coz those who believe in ‘him’ have indeed perished sometimes undeservedly and sadly do not have everlasting life. If that doesn’t disprove the existence of ‘your’ god then nothing else can.

It is unfair of me to argue with someone with so little sense as to believe in not just nonsense but the mean, vicious, violent, terrifyingly insane nonsense that is monotheism.

So the bad news for you is that you are not a male virgin jew — and therefore don’t qualify to be among the 144,000 who will be saved by Jeebus when he comes. Your illogic is deep and all pervasive in your brain. Saying that John 3:16 can never be disproved is basically saying that it is a load of shite. Any statement that can under no conceivable circumstances be disproved is essentially meaningless. I don’t expect you to appreciate this line of reasoning — or any line of reasoning for that matter — since you have amply demonstrated your lack of reason and common sense.

Now about the matter of whether the founders of Texas were monotheists or not. Perhaps they were. So what the heck is that supposed to prove? That monotheism is valid? You are an asinine idiot if you believe that the success of a state proves that some cooky ideas about god is valid. Allow me to point you to Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Bangadesh, . . . the entire list of states founded on monotheism and founded by monotheists. Get a frackin’ clue, you clueless retard.

They built into the constitution of the US the separation of the church and state because of this antipathy.

What is it the New Testament teaches us? – to believe that the Almighty committed debauchery with a woman engaged to be married, and the belief of this debauchery is called faith.”
