Browser History and Gender

This program uses your browser history to determine if you are more likely to be male or female. Don’t worry, it doesn’t store your browser history (or forward it to your spouse). Based on my history, the likelihood that I’m male is 92% much less than that Uncut Varma boy. Wonder what sites has he been browsing.

97% from my browser history. The high M/F ratio sites were Crutchfield, Crucial and Newegg. I am spending way too much money on electronics!

Provided, you don’t clear your browser history daily :D

Whatever algorithm that software is using sounds extremely chauvinistic. I am pretty sure they are assuming that all women would visit TMZ and PerezHilton and all men would visit Engadget and Techcrunch and crutchfield and whatnot.

Prashant, not bad. I guess surfing those sites will get you a higher rating. I recently re-formatted my HDD so my history is just a month old. Will check again in a couple of months.

Supremus, do you clear your history regularly? I don’t ever. Makes finding site that I vaguely remember much easier.

Lekhni, not exactly chauvinistic. It is based on the male-female visitor history to Quantcast Top 10k sites. If a site’s demographics includes primarily male visitors then I don’t think the site is being chauvinistic but it is merely aimed at a target audience. The sites you mention probably reflect that bias because its demographic history reflects that reality.

I always knew.. but it was nice to get this confirmation:

Likelihood of you being FEMALE is 0%
Likelihood of you being MALE is 100%

Websites used.. not a complete listing, but the ones I think I visit the most: Rediff, New Yorker, You Tube, NYT, FaceBook, WordPress, WaPo, Slate, Gmail etc.
