State of my Dissertation Research

Following is an accurate description of the state of my dissertation:

It has been all Pollster, Five Thirty Eight, and Real Clear Politics for the past couple of weeks. Although I want this election season to end soon I wonder if anything I read after November 4th will be half as interesting. Why do I bother you ask? Well, Jorge Cham has an answer for that as well:

LOL. That sure appears to be the situation, judging from your tweets.

I need to remember not to bump my productivity to 100% right after the election. That would be too obvious :)

    OMG, I can totally relate!!!
I am studying for my med licensing exams every night(after working 10hrs a day, everyday) and I can’t start without going through each and every news item on Huffpost, Real Clear Politics and other pol blogs. I don’t know how I will cope after the elections r over.

Yeah I plan to resume work after Nov.4th or at least that’s what I’m telling myself :) Good luck to you two as well.

I know you won’t start working on Nov. 4th. Who will watch the results coming in all night long? And, I know that you are secretly wishing for it to end up in a mess like 2000 elections. So, the recounts and Supreme court intervention drama will drag it for at least a couple more weeks if not more. :)

@Parag: Oh no! Trust me I want to graduate soon and a recount will definitely doom that. But Nate Silver of 538 puts the chances of a recount at 2.25% slightly lower compared to a McCain win at 3.7%. I would have relaxed and concluded that this race is over but I’m a social science researcher so I know better than to do that.
