Campaigning Rain or Shine

I find this image compelling; more so given Obama’s campaign narrative. This was taken in Pennsylvania yesterday where both campaigns held rallies in this must-win state (for McCain at least). The McCain campaign canceled citing weather conditions but Obama went ahead with his rally standing in rain without an umbrella. You would be forgiven for thinking that perhaps Obama is trailing by 7-8 points instead of leading.

In defense of McCain, it was raining in Chester, where Obama was, whereas in Quakertown, where McCain was supposed to hold a rally, it was snowing.

Plus, as we know, God is pro-McCain so he doesn’t really need to campaign at all.

@gawker: You must be basking in all that attention that comes with being in a swing state (at least for McCain). Alright, perhaps snow was a bit too much for McCain but that still doesn’t tell us why Obama chose to stand in the rain :)

If it was snowing elsewhere, I’d expect the rain to be umm…. really cold :) – admirable, he still chose to have the rally.

Mc Cain, oh, he’s just old. His bones cant take that weather hehe.

Yes, I am the luckiest person in PA. Not only do I get to enjoy all the campaign commercials on tv all evening and on the radio all morning, I also don’t get to vote.

@Supremus: McCain has lot more to worry than snow. I keep half-expecting him to croak on live TV.

@gawker: LOL! Keep paying your SS taxes; you’ll eventually (hopefully) get some back when you are as old as McCain.

Not completely related, but something I heard on his special on NBC yesterday really got to me. He said, “When we disagree, I will listen.” Whoa! That statement says so much – not just about a President-Citizen relationship, but every relationship in general!

I hate to like politicians, but Obama is doing a good job of changing that… :)

@Sampada: Exactly. Dissent was something the current administration frowned upon. Explains much of their problem. Hopefully Obama changes that. If not, he will lose my support next time around.
