The GOP’s God Problem

This op-ed column in the Washington Post by Kathleen Parker is one of the most honest assessments of GOP’s troubles written by a conservative. Parker lays the blame on GOP’s religion-centric stances. She was also one of the early conservative who called out the farce that was Palin.

    Quite true. The point about respecting and appealing to diversity is also well-taken. Let’s hope this election injects some sense into the GOP. It would be great to have conservatives like George Will and Barry Goldwater again who you may strongly disagree with but who are at least not a bunch of amateur hacks pandering to lobbies and religious fundamentalists.

    @Ashutosh: All I want is a decent debate with the so-called conservatives but they keep harping on values and issues that a majority of the country doesn’t approve of. I’m all for fiscal conservatism but the Republicans are the last ones (esp.after the last eight years) to lecture us on that.
