Friday the 13th Recession
At the time, October 13, 1989 was the second largest Dow drop in history. Nicknamed the “Friday the 13th mini-crash,” these days it’s not even in the top 10. That might be the scariest fact of all [source].
Isn’t it scary when the Friday the 13th superstition has no discernible effect on the recession? It is like we don’t need a Friday or the 13th for a free fall. It (kinda) reminds me of quote on a local coffee shop board – “It is scary how much topsoil we are losing to erosion due to deforestation. Strangely, no one got scared when I told that story at a campfire.” Fear is relative :) Happy Friday the 13th. Hope you survived it.
