The problem doesn't occur often but only when I'm on an editing spree so will give it a shot. I've tried clearing the cache though. No luck.

Thanks. The problem doesn’t occur often but only when I’m on an editing spree so will give it a shot. Before disabling plugins, I want to be sure if it is indeed WordPress-related. I don't have any new plugins save one. And even that one is a front-end one; why should it affect loading times on the backend?

I’m sure anyone at the front end has any problem. Since you have only 12 plugins I would suggest going with the classic approach of disabling plugins (most suspicious ones) one at a time and enabling them to identify the culprit.

I don’t have a problem opening your site.
