Its Over

It is finally over. Kerry called up Bush few minutes back to concede the election. America has the same ol’ President. Resounding victory for conservatives, it is indeed a sad day for us liberals (notice the black header?).

I will make a detailed post sometime soon. Be in touch in this time of need.

im not going to watch tv for atleast a few more days! cant bear the moron grinning like a bloody monkey! what were these guys thinking anyways!?!!!

  • Nami

It amazes me too that after all Bush did, the Americans voted him back into power. A friend of mine voted for Bush just cause she said he needs to clean up his mess. Hello, he can’t run for president again, why will he bother to clean up his mess? What kind of logic is that? But she still voted for him. Unbelievable!! My sympathies to all of us here in the US.

as sad as I am for this ghor anyaay, i can help but smile at your black header..make me want to reach out and pinch you on your checks..am I allowed?

Yes, its quite a shock…this whole election results.

Come on, Patrix! Don’t be so dramatic. The black header is a nice touch, though. This is not the end of the world. US and the rest of the world survived through the last 4 years and they will for the next 4 definitely. How much more damage can he do than what he has already done? Should I really ask that question? Probably not. At least, the presidential comedy will continue. There will be plenty of material for John Stewart and Bill Maher. I am looking forward to that. The only concern is that both the houses of Congress are also controlled by the republicans. Now, all the cookie conservatives with their weird agendas will crawl out of the woodwork and will get what they want implemented. I hope that they don’t too far.

Damn… I thought he should have waited for 11 days, give it a fight till the end – what’s the hurry anyway?
Atleast after the irritating ‘We’ll give him time to think’ remark, Kerry should not have given up today.

patrix, was just listening to Kerry’s speech. sounded more like my pastor Benjamin in church. well pastor benjamin wouldn’t stand a chance against figthing terrorism. well iwas thinking how many years would we have to wait for india to have an opposition leader speak like that. in the interest of our country. i envy america for the transparency and patriotism. and it is the closest any one can get to Rand’s Atlantis. btw thanks for election coverage.

if you see the distribution all the worldly and educated city folks voted for kerry…….all the rest…..well you can see it on the map……..

i guess we should work on making the bulk of the americans more worldly…….hope it is not another black day that jolts them out of their la-la land that america is the centre of the universe.

Hey! I am sorry for all you guys in the US man! But honestly I cannot say I am not happy myself – corporate India is celebrating as can be reflected in the stock market performance of yesterday. So long as the local economy is doing good, I really cannot complain.

Soleil – I swear! “Morality” was said to be the key factor in these election…What the..?

Nami – Logic has taken a backseat and emotions are ruling the country now so I guess it was expected but I was hoping against hope.

Alpha – The results made ur spellingz a mess. But pulling on my checks?? maybe I can give that to you once :)

Ashwin – Dusshera is a long time away now…or maybe never.

Kimu – Strangely enough, I get the feeling that he might be leaning towards the center now.

Parag – If Bush can make dramatic statements and win, why not me? :)

The conservative agenda sure is scary. The stem-cell research scientists should move base to California. The gays and lesbians should move out of America. Roe vs.Wade can be expected to be overturned. What else? A long Halloween for four years.

Aar – Nope. The lead just was too much and a long wait only would have turned the nation against him. America does have sporting losers though.

Maya – My pleasure. I missed the speech but the kind words are to be expected. Gore Redux.

M – It always has worked that way but then ultimately the votes just don’t add up and they all are happy in their happy little world, complete with thousands of nukes.

Kiran – I understand you thinking with your corporate mind but maybe if you think with ur heart, you will realise that justice was not done.

    My condolences…

    so lets carryy on

  • Jahnvi

And I thought most Indian Americans support Bush? And many Indians too!

  • ankita

    *sob* doomed, are we.

  • http://virtualscribbles.rediffblogs.com/ ashi

one of the worst days possible to be watching the tube..:(:(. bush grinning like a buckaroo and india getting thrashed. it was a day to wear black bands all right..and not just for sheikh zayed.

  • http://patrix.typepad.com Patrix

Leela – Appreciate it but I can feel ur pain when you folks elected Sonia Gandhi..its balanced out now.

    Sonia – Nice pome…hope it is :)

Jahnvi – Those with commercial interests do support him those with enough brain cells to think don’t.

Ankita – Lets look ahead and block out the next 4 years.

Ashi – I didn’t watch his acceptance speech…my form of protest against American gullibility.
