History Revisted

I spent the better part of the evening importing my earlier posts from Rediff. Let the Google spider crawl over the weekend and the site search can make all my posts a click away. I had been putting it off for a long time. I had to do it the stone-age way; cut-paste and schedule the posts to appear at an earlier date. Although painful, I read some of my earlier posts while importing them. I sensed a distinct shift in my writing style (good or bad, you decide).

You can access my archives by clicking on the earlier months listed
under sub-topic More Archives on the right hand side of this page. I have moved away from writing LJ-type personal posts to more analytical post on larger issues. Subsequently my blog audience has changed too although few of the oldies have lingered around. I may delete my Rediff blog but then I occassionally get a few visitors via that blog so I guess, that can wait.

But I remember some of the posts which I had considered to be a good read (not sure now). I am listing a few from my first month below:

Bhoot – An Archi Review
My Hinduism
We don’t need no education..
Desh(i) Prem
Hakka Philosophy

You have to agree that I have changed. But then, who doesn’t?

PS. Plus, while I was at it, some formatting changes doesn’t hurt either. Notice the font changes and lil’ lines here and there?

Did you ever do a review of Swades ?? It was much better received by the (as Gayatri so eloquently put it)..non-returning-indians :)..than it was here….in the desh it was centred on !

I think, you were more ‘original’, more ‘close to life’ in yr earlier posts. one on hinduism is an excellent post in my view. : )

Ash – Considering that you were directing things over my shoulder, of course you like the new look :) but honestly even I think that the change was long overdue.

Venusian – Actually I didn’t do a review per se (Read Leela’s excellent review) but I did do a follow-up post on the thoughts of an NRI.

Anwesha – Thanks. Guess everyone begins writing about the things that are closest to them i.e. your own life and then move on to writing about the world in general. Maybe the perspective might have changed but love for writing remains the same. Also need to keep some personal things away from prying eyes is also to “blame”.

Anwesha – Glad I could make sense :)

Whirlwings – I guess I was causing lot of strained eyes under the guise of design. But I like this size and type of font. Enjoy :)

That’s a review !!!..and a very kind one at that :)

Mine was a lot more scathing…..:))

Crab – LJ is a blogging site where mostly teenagers and others write personal stuff. Not all, but the majority of them do.

Venusian – You may like to check out this review which praises it as well as critisizes the movie or rather the viewer.

Hmmm..will do my own review of THAT review !!

If he wanted audiences to appreciate the sensitive narrative (which was very very good) he should have let go of the bollywood-ian tools and stuck to the intelligent evocative script he had to to begin with.
