Musical Readings
Lately for some godforsaken reason I have listening to an assortment of unrelated music while going about my mundane reading material. The soundtracks that I have been regularly listening to are:
- Ghoomshuda – Chalte Chalte
- Chand Chaiyye – Supari
- Pyaar ko ho jaane do – Dushman
- Mujhe choo rahi hai – Swayamvar
- Leaving on a Jet Plane – John Denver
- Tragedy – Bee Gees
- Sweet Home Alabama – Lynyrd Skynyrd
- Piano Sonata (?) – Maksim
These aren’t my all-time favorites but currently am just listening to them primarily while going about my reading. Total silence makes me crazy and I need to have some soothing background sounds that cut me off from the randomized chaos of the world. Distractions of the corneal kind are no problem. I can single-mindedly focus on whats in front of me, its just the audio distractions that waver my attention. I have learnt to drown all those distractions by plugging into an assortment of music, courtesy Kazaa. But sometimes songs like the above derail my original intent of focusing better on my readings and divert me to engrossing myself in the beauty of their tunes. I remember reading somewhere that classical music as opposed to thrash metal helped plants grow better and faster. So I guessed I should give my vegetative nerve endings the classical treatment. Maksim’s piano renderings inspired me to buy the Sunday Morning classics - a motley of the masters’ greatest compositions viz. Beethoven’s Ninth, Strauss’s Blue Danube, etc. Strange looks from ACM and ADS and their comments on me trying to project a chic image, did not deter me. Now time will tell if my brain grows or its too late.
