F2 (Fiorina Fired)

HP CEO Carly Fiorina has stepped down from her post. She led the charge against the detractors of the HP-Compaq merger and emerged successfully. But I guess, in the long run, the Board wasn’t too happy about the HP’s declining market share in the PC market. IBM has already succumbed and the Dell juggernaut seems to roll on relentlessly.

What do top-notch executives do after they are fired?

UPDATE:

Shares of H-P, which jumped more than 10% on the news, gained $1.39, or 6.9%, to $21.53 at 4 p.m. on the New York Stock Exchange.

It seems that the market has a short memory and doesn’t give potential a damn if you don’t fulfil the promises you made in a dramatic speech. Wall Street analysts are pondering on a possible HP breakup now that Fiorina is out of their way.

Preeta, I understand your pain but please take your quibbles regarding some other blog elsewhere. I don’t want to interfere in the way someone else wants to run their blog. Sorry.

M – I guess brilliant people have that stubborn streak in them…and that can be gender-neutral.

Hi Preeta, why are you talking like Patrix?

Glad to know. She should have been fired an year back. coincidentally fortune magazine ran a cover story on her in their latest edition. Looks like they sniffed it a little earlier than us.

Preeti: Yeah..you can come and play on my blog.
