NEFA on hold?

I know I have been away from my own blog for a long time now although I have been sighted often in other parts of the “Internets”. Apart from the fact that my academic pursuits have taken up a significant part of my life, DesiPundit has kept me busy whenever I get online. I am contemplating on “planned civilization” for most part of the day (not entirely successful yet!) in my offline world and what used to be a breeze, going through my multiple email accounts takes ages now. I simply haven’t the time to post on NEFA although there are thousand thoughts floating around in my head; they just don’t make it to the keyboard these days.

DesiPundit has been the focus of the Desi blogosphere in the past week
and keeping it updated and running smoothly has proven to be an uphill
task. But thankfully, many bloggers have made my task easier for doing
the scouting bit. Whenever I think that the dust is settling on the
controversy, IIPM or its “loyal” students shoot off their mouth and
kick up a storm again. It may get tiring after a while. Varna, the
other blogger to get a notice has already given up on the issue and has
already announced that she wouldn’t be blogging on the IIPM
issue; twice! I may, or rather will eventually blog about other things
but I’ll definitely be keeping a tab on the issue considering that
DesiPundit has taken an active interest in the whole thing.

The page impressions and bandwidth have shot into the stratosphere
(everyone at DesiPundit is mighty pleased) but it does have costs
attributed too although I am gladly taking it upon myself (little price to
pay for freedom of speech, eh?) I am amazed at the way bloggers all
over the Desi blogosphere responded to our call to unite behind
threatened bloggers and all credit to them for making our voice heard.
The best part about this joint effort was the way different blog
circles intersected to form a unifying whole. Personal bloggers,
political pundits, the humor kings (and queens), even the teenybopper
I-don’t-give-a-damn individualists were unanimous in their condemnation
for IIPM’s high-handed ways. Ultimately freedom of speech, or at
least the need for, triumphed. The MSM finally noted our presence not
as some kind of cyber exotica but a credible force to reckon with.
There are bound to be repercussions, as bloggers may band together in a
formal setup and it may not be as loosely connected as it was before.
More responsible reactions might be expected of us although we can
still enjoy blogging as we always did.

Nerve Endings will be firing in full force again soon although as
Rashmi puts it, it is going to be a different blogosphere after 10/10.
However, I believe the change is for the better.
