Abandoned Blog Blues
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or email alerts. Thanks for visiting!
This is very wierd. I cancelled my Typepad account few days before it expired and I had my blog up and running on an independent host (here) powered by Wordpress. Typepad promptly deleted my blog on their servers and sent me a “Hope we served you good and wish you could come back” email. Sometime last week, I noticed
my previous blog popped up again on Typepad servers albeit with a different template and reduced archives. Since that my purposes of redirecting my readers who hadn’t got the memo on my blog shift, I didn’t bother.
But now, I see weird categories and links on the right hand sidebar. It seems that some spammer has cyber-squatted on my erstwhile space but has kept my last post on the blog (see below). I can’t imagine why a spammer would cyber-squat on my previous URL by paying Typepad almost eight bucks each month. I didn’t get tons of hits or readers that would make their business viable. But it still sends my lost readers to this blog so it serves my purpose. But I may have an image issue here and will probably file a complaint with Typepad immediately. The screenshot is attached below if you miss seeing this strange occurence:

1.Patrix, off-topic, but inspired by your egging bloggers on to do something on the case of Meher Bhargava, have posted email addresses on my blog so bloggers can harass the politicians. Do send an email if you can.
2.Have you seen this: http://www.pickledpolitics.com/archives/403
3.Also wanted to know your opinion on the flyover since you know about urban planning, but I see Confused has done the job for me!

MumbaiGirl, thanks for taking up the gauntlet. I have posted it on DesiPundit. I had read Sunny’s post earlier and have posted it along with yours.
I didn’t read about your reactions to the flyover issue…just from a Mumbaikar’s point of view.

“sexual health”?
“muscle relaxants”?
Its actually quite funny.
But can typepad actually get rid of this ‘cyber squatter’ who ummm seems to indulge in serving people(for want of a better word=D) with his err……services?

Thanks for that. Flyover-was just wondering if improved pubic transport wouldn’t be a better long term solution-after all how many can they build-what happens once the flyovers can’t cope?
Your squatter is quite funny.

Megha, I agree that its funny. I just don’t want people thinking I am making those jokes. Izzat ka sawal hai, yaar. I have written to Typepad but haven’t heard from them yet.
MumbaiGirl, I agree with your assessment on flyovers and that is exactly my fear too.

Imagine my surprise when your feed showed up the “Fetsih Fantacy” links, I once though you might have altered the focus of the blog ;)

LOL! Izzat ka kabada! :P >:)
On a serious note, it’s also affecting desipundit’s image(see the “I’m a desipundit contributor badge on the left). Damn those typepad guys.

Debashish, my traffic would zoom upwards if those links persisted. But I rather *gasp* not have that traffic. Typepad has promised to fix it. Their support line takes a while after you have left them.
BD, you bet it can be. Those links in the sidebar didn’t appear initially. I hope it is fixed soon.
