The facts first, Patrix is originally from New Bombay, India. He spent an eventful 5 years in Atlanta (GA). He has an undergraduate degree in Architecture from PiCA, a graduate degree in Public Policy from Georgia Tech, and is currently contemplating on urban planning issues while pursing a “no-light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel-yet” PhD at Texas A&M in Urban and Regional Science. Even he is figuring out an appropriate explanation of how he landed so far.
But his education at least means that he can use both sides of his brain. He is as interested in Art as he is in Science. He has majored in Urban and Regional Economic Development and minored in Science and Technology (whew!). He took an awful amount of time to do that though. Signs point to the fact that he is not done yet.
Patrix is a seriously opinionated individual who loves to speak his mind. He can be hurtfully blunt at times but mostly maintains a politically correct demeanor. He always maintains such a contrarian outlook hence misunderstood mostly.
Mostly liberal, Patrix can blend in any environment as long as he is surrounded by open minds who love to dabble in stimulating conversation. Be surprised to find sarcastic humor and attempts to cover up failing ground in personal digs. He believes that apt humor is not in inventing jokes but using the right jokes at the right time. Most often than not, he is successful and has rarely met his match. Oh, God! is the most common reaction and require a higher level of understanding to unravel layers of his esoteric humor.
He loves to chat up on topics ranging from the inane to intellectual although mostly the line is blurred. The topics that will interest him can range from discussing diaper preferences as a kid to U.S. foreign policy. He makes many acquaintances and few friends. Friendships last longer when he relents.
He is sure of what he expects but is largely unsure of how he will get it. But yet a great believer in “first do no harm”, he will never hurt anyone and is mostly quick to apologize if he finds himself at fault. He loves doling out advice even when not asked for but hates receiving some in return. He does grudgingly accept some blame for his actions though.
He loves to think of himself like a dense fog…concealing many mysteries and revealing them gradually as time passes. People who have managed to know him well enough often love to scoff at this highly exaggerated claim. He loves to dream and often has dreamt and planned the next ten years of his life. He won’t admit doing that so don’t bother asking him. God often has a hearty laugh when he tells him his plans.
He tries to build a perfect future with a stable life but unfortunately he has been unsuccessful so far. Hope is a dangerous thing and has kept him going like it does for everyone else.
He loves his forefathers, two parents, one brother and two dogs, Maximus and Dash. He hasn’t seen Dash yet but sorely misses Shiny who is in doggie heaven (redundancy, eh?) right now. He hasn’t spent much time with Max and none with Dash but his love extends to them nevertheless. You can’t help not loving dogs, can you?
His tumultuous love life can inspire many Bollywood masala flicks, complete with left-footed dances. He is happily married to Ash, who is the most beautiful and fun person he has ever laid eyes on. He promises to love his significant other until the end of time, unless of course his time runs out. He hasn’t yet learned from his experiences that perfection is not a virtue easily found. Although the opposite sex mostly has a favorable impression, they do still find him unpredictable.
He enjoys pondering over his existence, reading the written word and listening to soft rock in no particular order. He takes to sarcasm as well as he loves to hand it out. Those who have a low level of tolerance or get irritated easily lose contact. Good riddance!
Sipping coffee is a hobby and sipping it for hours while people-watching is an art. He prefers to be at the back of the camera rather than in the front for the simple reason that he considers himself unphotogenic. He also loves inventing words and flaunting his meager vocabulary often giving him an aura of being a literary giant (or pseudo-intellectual depends on your first impression) which he is not.
It wouldn’t hurt knowing him a little more. I know I would. Feel free to write to him; he always writes back.
