Pat - dunno - never really watched Jassi - have heard about its fame. Read somewhere that it was based on the Spanish soap. Btw, the Spanish soap is a huge worldwide hit.

Yeah, Betty la Fea was the original one. I supppose it was Colombian. The Sony guys in India had bought the script and the copyright, though I thought that was odd, because we are renowned for lifting and modifying scripts to avoid copyright infringements; case in point being bollywood movies.
