Attorney dressed as Osama arrested in Maine Portland, Maine — Attorney Tom Connolly was arrested by South Portland police this morning, after motorists reported a man with a gun near Interstate 295. It turns out the gun was part of a Halloween costume, but it looked real enough to passersby and police. Connolly was dressed in an Osama Bin Laden costume and holding a fake gun and a sign that said “I love TABOR”. Officers drew their weapons on Connolly, who was taken into custody a few minutes later. It will be up to the District Attorney’s office to decide what charges to file, but police say one possibility is a charge of terrorizing [via; emphasis mine].
Video here. Note the text in bold. Come’on! Halloween is a crazy time and people get more and more creative to shock people with their ‘unique’ costumes. I understand that the cops might have freaked out coz of a report of a gun (fake)-wielding man throwing grenades (fake) on the highway but the cop upon being interviewed said, “in this day and age, we assumed the worst”. 9/11 was five years ago and I doubt a lonely highway in Maine would be the next target. But people still are afraid and ‘assume the worst’, or at least made to feel afraid [by a Republican administration]. So, I guess the terrorists are winning. Damn! we are fighting them right here.
