The results for the 2005 Bloggies are out. Boing Boing expectedly won the blog of the year and the group blog of the year. They have been consistent in providing quirky links to stuff on the web.
However, the big winner was Dooce. She won awards for best US , most humorous, best taglined, and best written blog. Considering that all those categories were intensely competitive, it is indeed remarkable for an individual to win all those awards. If you didn’t know already, she already is a verb. Dooced - to lose one’s job because of one’s website - finds a place in the urban dictionary. Heather Amstrong, a web designer and author of Dooce was fired from her job for writing about her job and colleagues.
Flickr won the award for best meme - a replicating idea that spread about weblogs. Too bad the Tsunami blog - authored by few desis among others - didn’t win anything but considering its narrow focus and temporary subject, it isn’t too surprising.
