Bhai vs. Bhai

What is it about feuding brothers that captures our imagination so much? For one, India has never been in lack of ‘brothers-in-arms’. Right from the Mahabharata to the Ambani brothers spat, such brotherly feuds have always redefined India. Right now, the latest tamasha is about the Mahajan brothers. Praveen Mahajan, the seemingly insecure real estate dude shot his high profile ex-telecom minister and BJP head honcho, Pramod Mahajan. Pramod was battling for life while Praveen’s defense team was ready to blame his short temper and impulsive behavior. I wonder people don’t kill people but guns kill people argument is in the works here. Wonder where Praveen got the gun from; if he got it through his brother’s connections (Amit thinks it would be ironical), it was a mighty favor to pay back in form of bullets pumped into his sibling’s belly (resist ‘fire in the belly’ or firebrand BJP leader pun here). Great Bong writes on how he doesn’t care who Praveen or Pramod are but the fact that one brother could shoot the other especially when he was heavily favored speaks volumes of sibling rivalry.  Bollywood sure has the next potboiler script all ready to roll and such high profile real-life examples, the movie is a sure shot hit.

So is it better to be the only child of your parents and thus avoid having your brother shoot you someday? Probably not; my brother and I don’t see eye to eye on everything. Rather we are as different as chalk and cheese and wonder how could we share the same parents. But so far whenever either one has landed in trouble, the other has helped to bail him out. I don’t know what the future holds and honestly, the family history doesn’t offer much hope either. But I am still staying optimistic and hope it never comes down to, bhai tum sign karoge ki nahi and ultimately leading up to mera paas maa hai type confrontation. By the way, what about dad?

    Bhai Bhai Ka Jhagdha…

Yaar, a lot of problems arise because of our so called close knit family system too. We dont like to disucss issues like money and property in a detached manner, till things get so bad that we are ready to kill.

Being a single kid is fun-ask me. My Professor dad faces no will issues-anyways he has little to leave for me. :)

Confused, I guess if you had as much fun as Calvin did then I guess being a single kid is okay but honestly, I dunno how would I have survived if I was the only one around.
