You heard it right. I made one attempt at revealing my blogging identity and I don’t know how many I might have to make to get the point across. If you haven’t, read this before you go any further.
After lunch, I called up my mom. She was in bed, recuperating from flu. Oops! Not a good time to convince her to get online. But I thought; let me at least get started on the background. So I braced myself and blurted out, “Mom, have you heard of blogs?” Total silence – I had to call out hello to check if she was still on the phone. Groggily she said, “No, what is that?” I mumbled through an incoherent explanation, trying to cover everything while keeping it simple; something I totally suck at.
Finally, I just told her that it is a kinda online writing thingie and I also write online. But I guess she was totally overcome with flu and sleep to even try to understand my geeky mumbo-jumbo. She handed the phone to my dad, who had just returned home after a late-night meeting. Cyber-unaware that he is, I didn’t want to repeat myself. And also, I feel comfortable breaking any dramatic news first to my mom before I tell my dad. After some small talk, I promised to call them up the next morning, when my mom was feeling better. I asked her to get online so that I could conduct a still-not-outsourced helpdesk session at understanding what the heck I was talking about.
I will try again tomorrow morning. I wonder how many attempts it is going to take me to get through. But I will persist until I realize that they rather not read my blog.
PS. You guys can be yourselves (if you heeded my earlier warning to behave yourselves, which I doubt. I know, Alpha, it has been hard). She isn’t reading this yet…until she learns to scroll.

mother of a son - i - can understand your apprehension and lack of patience…… she will - i am sure- be equally exhilerated given her history.
i am still reeling about the more than dating part….and how come we get to see her pix and are stillin the dark reference your nerdy( her words)appearance?

m, get a grip. Yeah, I know you must be thanking the lord that HE does manage to take care of HIS nerds. Let me tell you before his girl friend bashes me for abuse to her chinkipoo or whatever he is called these days, it’s better left in the dark (the appearance, I mean).
Jeez Patrix, you put me in major strain! I can’t be rude to you now. On one side ma and other side priyata’ma’. How about just printing all these posts and sending her a stack of papers by post, comments bina?
Here’s wishing aunty speedy recovery from flu as she better gain strength for what’s coming.
m, if you are seriously losing sleep over it, just email me with a request..I’ll send the needy. From that, only God cdan help you recover.

ahem….i printed a bunch of posts and gave them to my mom…all she replied was “hmm - this is what all the ‘thap thap’ late in the night was all about.” and thats that….never was the blog mentioned again….:/

M - As Alpha rightly said, why do you wanna subject yourself to visual torture? You already seen the beauty, why do u wanna see the beast?
Ph - Alpha, Star, M, Soleil..all anonymous bloggers. Yup, you are the exception.
Alpha - Ah-ha! after being exposed to the hideous being, you wanna go ahead and warn others?? why?? Let them get their share of shock too. And although Ma and Priyata-ma (loved that though) will be lingering around here, that shouldn’t stop you from being yourself…they rather would appreciate the extra help.
Soleil - I take it that she doesn’t know Google just yet.

My mom has been reading my blog since its conception, scandals, tears and rants included. I used to get rapped on the knuckles pretty often earlier for ’speaking too much’ and though I’ve not really sobered down over the months, she seems to have lightened up. I guess she understands me better now and I feel closer to her knowing that she does.

oh ho- so much flak for a little bit of curiosity………..but yup alpha- i still cant get over the fact that a woman agreed to put up with his sermons……..unless he just foists that stuff on us kind visitors to his blog.

Aekta - I guess the “understanding more” part outweighs everything else.
M - “a woman agreed to put up with his sermons” - or maybe since i get to sermonize so much on here, I probably don’t do it in real life..but still better, ask Ash for a honest opinion.

aaar, you call it a joke? Such a tragedy has befallen on poor Smiley. he’s filing for mental trauma and allimony. Last, he was heard fighting tooth and nail for the family heirloom from ash.
