Daily Kos: A Cult Phenomenon

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or email alerts. Thanks for visiting!

A clearinghouse for liberal screeds and progressive perspective on the news, the site claims to get more than 500,000 unique visitors daily and more than 10,000 members maintain their own sub-blogs (called “diaries”) within its reaches. On Thursday, almost a thousand of these loyal readers and contributors — along with Wesley Clark, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada and former Virginia governor and potential ‘08 contender Mark Warner — will gather in Las Vegas for a pep rally-cum-political conference, “Yearly Kos.” [source: Time]

Although I no longer read Daily Kos (too much local politics than I care to read about), I must admit that it certainly is the biggest political blog out there, earning its founder and owner Markos Moulitsas Zuniga almost six figures. He has become a cult figure and his followers proudly call themselves Kossaks. Even if you don’t agree with his views, it is definitely worth admiring his grasp on the blogosphere.
