Domain names are a hot commodity these days and are nowadays becoming a hot new charitable gift (80-G exemption and all that). Farm.com was donated to a group which then sold it for $200,000 and a guy who cyber-squatted over bestliberalartsschool.com donated it to his alma mater (not that it made it the best liberal arts school) [via]. This is amazing and shows the extent of intellectual property not restricted to creative works but simply the ability to be there first. Let me see, I own three domain names right now, out of which only one (desipundit.com) might generate a modicum of interest. The other two are latent possibilities (ipatix.com and urbanplanningblog.com). But I am not donating them any time soon. Sorry, Red Cross (or Oxfam or AID India)
