You may have noticed that this blog no longer hosts Google Adsense;
instead you can view ads from Feedster. Google inexplicably disabled my
Adsense account citing ‘invalid clicks’. I have no idea what they mean
and I hadn’t checked my account whilst on vacation. I guess Google must
have realized that their second payout was nearing. I had received a
notice from Google asking me to remove certain references which implied
I was asking people to click on my ads. Although those comments were
made completely in jest and harmless, I removed them. A week later, I
received the ‘disabling’ notice. I contacted Google for details on the
invalid clicks. They responded briefly by saying that due to propriety
nature of their algorithm, they cannot disclose how their monitoring
technology works or specifics on my account. Hmmmm…interesting; since
they also won’t reveal what percentage of ad revenue we are receiving.
Anyway, I have moved on and adopted Feedster Ad program.
They are at least clear about my share in revenue (75%) but do not
present contextual ads. I have also signed up for the
yet-to-be-released Pajamas Media venture. I guess, that will be enough to sustain my Typepad hosting costs.

I never imagined Google could be evil. But sadly, they have the best “contextual ads” technology out there. Not that I ever click on ads, unless they are really catchy Feedster’s service doesn’t really stand up to AdSense IMO

Saket - True! Google is indeed extracting the full potential of its ‘contextual ad’ technology. I am waiting for Pajamas Media to kickoff.
