Business 2.0 mentions that growth rate of Firefox is slowing. The market share of the browser has plateaued at 5.69 per cent while Internet Explorer holds a domineering 89.9 per cent share. Personally, I prefer Firefox and haven’t touched IE for months now, apart from occasionally checking my almost-defunct hotmail email. The geeks have been using Firefox for a while now while the mass consumers and helpless corporate souls still stick with IE; I think it is more to do with awareness and amount of net usage. My personal stats tell me that almost 24% readers use Firefox and other related browsers (Mozilla, Netscape, etc.); much more than the average Internet user. Chances are that if you surf the Net a lot, are genuinely concerned about security issues, and do not wish to be inundated with spyware, you use Firefox. Boing Boing, the blog of blogs also see similar trends. I see no reason why you do not if you don’t yet. Ask my poor roomie who used IE diligently until the spyware rendered his PC unusable and only the Format C: command seemed to work.
Havoc is trying to write a post on his IE preference for sometime now. But all the links on the Internet seem to point towards why you shouldn’t use IE. I wonder if that tells him something.

Havoc - Give me proof and a strong statistical sample…not individual experience.

Bah! The story starved media will take any statistical artefact in the Firefox vs. IE graph and make it a headline. I say Go Firefox!
Havoc have you tried extensions? Ahhh the pleasure of right clicking to fill any random registration via bugmenot. The pleasure of seeing the next 7 day’s weather at the bottom of your browser, of autocopy and adblock. Of quicknot and del.icio.us - there is no doubt my friend, Internet Explorer has left the building!

Ajju - Could you repost the link to the Bugmenot extension? I have been waiting for that one for a long time.
