Strangely I haven’t watched a single episode of American Idol this season after last season’s almost fervent following of Sanjaya Malakar. And nope, I didn’t watch the final between the Davids either. But I found this video of Mike Myers promoting his latest movie, The Love Guru on American Idol:
I’m sure millions in today’s India plagued with competitive intolerance are already offended. Although cliched at times, The Love Guru definitely seems to be a laugh riot especially the Sitar Hero bit. Don’t look for cultural accuracies because I’m sure the movie never aims in that direction and those who are offended, just remember that if you really think your culture and traditions are great then a movie is not going to change that. Just treat it like you would treat a Govinda movie.

i desperately need your help. I tried to do some gimmick with feedburner thing and completely messed up my blog feed.
I burned my feed through fedburner and in blogger redirected the feed through that feedburner url. Now nothing works. My blog has no feed and google reader is not getting updated with latest posts.
help! help!

Was it resolved then? Because I just saw hawkeye’s IB post on my feed reader, and even commented..
Speaking about feedburner, why do my Feedburner stats show completely different numbers from my wordpress feedsmith numbers?

Could it be because one counts returning visitors as unique and the other doesn’t? Are both of them excluding *your* visits to the blog from the count? Just guessing here as I don’t use wp.

Alright, this is one of those off-topic comment threads.
Hawkeye, I’ve emailed you but guessing from Lekhni’s comment, the problem seems to have sorted out.
Lekhni, I’m not sure why but feed counts have always been arbitrary and even the Feedburner stats do not tell you how many subscribers you have but merely how many have accessed your feed in a given time. I would trust Feedburner over any other source though (or the ones that show a higher count).

No the problem didnt get sorted out. I undid my changes and stopped the blogger redirection to feedburner. Then it started working.
I don’t know what the process of redirecting to feedburner does that stops google reader from getting updates.
Redirecting to feedburner has been a harrowing experience

I made the IB post 24 hours before and your reader just got the update. thats because I stopped the feed redirection.

@Patrix I like your attitude, because there is no hope now, I doubt if anyone is going to find the courage to completely ignore all previous comments and talk about the Love Guru :(
@Amit I am guessing both of them are excluding my visits to the blog. If not, I shall find a way to get 25,000 subscribers in 1 month’s time ;)

Raj was hilarious :) But I suspect that he’s probably real and those opinions are genuine. One can simply not make up the kind of stuff he writes ;)

Please continue…all this blog needs are more comments. No amount of design changes and plugins are going to change that :) Heck, I even might have your Raj as a guest commenter here.
Re: your subscriber count, I hope you know that it is different from the way pageviews and site visits are counted, right? There is no way a feed view can be counted twice. Or at least I don’t know how.

Feeds can’t be double counted, right? That gives me hope. Wordpress has been showing me double the number of subscribers that feedburner admits to :o And yet it’s all redirected through FB anyway..
Maybe if I post daily, and if my feed subscribers check their feed daily, then my FB subscribers will come close to my WP numbers..let’s see :)

Lekhni, Which Wordpress plugin do you use to get a count? Feedsmith? And why would this plugin show twice the number of subscribers than Feedburner if feeds are being redirected thru FB? Does that mean it is counting it twice?
Anyway, why have two feed-counting services? Nah! Strike that, I use Google Analytics, Mint, and Woopra to count stats on my blog :)

I have FeedSmith and Feed Statistics. The number that Feed Statistics shows on my blog’s dashboard is different from the one I get when I log into Feedburner :(

Lekhni, I would go with the Feedburner count because your Dashboard count is pulling it form FB anyway so there might be some inflation issue when it does that.

Have figured it out…Feed smith counts all those who clicked on “subscribe to my feed ” over the last x days (u can specify x). if I set x as 1, it’s about the same number as what FeedBurner tells me for the last 1 day :D

I adore this part of American Idol…
Guru Pitka is amazing. Especially when he mentioned about David C.’s stubble and David A having hair in weird and wonderful places. ROTFLOL…xP
