When the country is experiencing a serious downturn in its economy, fighting two wars overseas and threatening a third one, people are losing jobs and healthcare, why is talk of pigs and lipstick dominating the news? I’ve always maintained that Sarah Palin’s selection tells us more about McCain than it does about her. After all, McCain was the honorable Republican who once fell prey to the smear tactics of his own party. So to paraphrase Andrew Sullivan’s concern, is it really that important for McCain to become the President that he must sacrifice everything that he once stood for? If the answer to that rhetorical question is yes then I fear for this country that sells itself as a beacon of liberty, freedom, and truth.
I do not want this country to falter and be replaced as the superpower by Russia or China because you know the world under them would be far worse. I hope Americans understand this as they begin voting starting September 30th.
