Setting the stage for a positive dialogue with the Chinese leadership in the context of President Hu Jintao’s visit in November, the Left has indicated to the Chinese that India would not be part of any US-led global strategy for the containment of China [source].
I never knew that the Left could speak for India. Never mind the major sucking up but I hope the Chinese know that the Left merely supports the government [from outside] and is not a part of the ruling UPA alliance. I am not sure why Yerchury who is in Beijing for a “party-to-party” meeting considers himself to be the spokesman for India’s foreign policy statements. India might or might not be considering being a part of any “US game plan against China” but I am sure, the Left wouldn’t mind us being a part of a China game plan against the US”.
If coalition politics is here to stay, I say that we must not tolerate this “outside support” interference. If you wish to ‘join’ the government, you better be a part of it otherwise just shut up.

I fully endorse your views. The left is best left behind if India has to move forward. Sometimes, I feel that instead of this two thirds majority, we are better off with the single largest party forming the government. This is considering that even somebody like Manmohan Singh has had to agree to compromise because of the compulsions of coalition politics.
Strange irony and though it may not be an appropriate analogy, in a lighter vien, if a well desinged site like desipundit giving good recommendations has to shut shop, why should somebody giving ridiculous views be allowed to continue and I assure you, this is not a “left” handed compliment.

Hiren, I acknowledge your “left-handed” compliment. But unfortunately, life isn’t always fair. And I bet there are more (thousands more) people who believe Yerchury and his left cronies are talking sense than those who believe DesiPundit is giving good recommendations. Such is life.
