The best photo opportunities come by when you least expect them. The Digital Photography blog offers tips on how to never miss such opportunities. But aside from point#1, rest all are redundant. And lugging around your DSLR everywhere can be a pain. How do you get around that? Have a smaller backup camera? But then you’ll fail to utilize the capabilities of an SLR during such unexpected times.

Regarding #1., what if the moment to take the picture is lost between the time one sees the opportunity and unpacks the camera from the bag and gets it ready?
Ah, the eternal treadmill of the human mind. :)
Sometimes, it may be best to enjoy the moment and let go of the wish to capture it for posterity, no?

Amit, even if that doesn’t take too long you still have to lug it around every where you go and you don’t get opportunities all the time. There was an interesting discussion I read somewhere regarding enjoying the fleeting moment vs. capturing it for posterity (e.g. your kid’s first steps).

I faced this in Maldives. At many times I felt i could capture an incredible shot, but let it pass it was more important to enjoy the moment with somebody else rather trying to find the right f-stop to get it right. I don’t regret it it all.

Supremus, I’m sure this post is not applicable for your honeymoon travel :) Risk of a shorter marital life, you see. Anyway, since you were living in just that resort surrounded by sea I’m sure you could sneak away sometime to capture those shots.
