The Sena has done it again. The latest goof-up, being the clarion call issued by the Uttar Pradesh unit urging Hindus to have more children to combat the growing “menace” of a rising Muslim populace. I guess, the Sena loves making a fool of itself and repeatedly wishes away any claims that it harbors of being taken seriously as a national party. If you think that these are the utterances of an impulsive rogue unit besieged by jihadi gun-toting Columbine-like muslim kids, then enjoy this gem uttered by MP Chandrakant Khaire: “The Muslims are not adopting family planning measures and therefore the Sena’s call to Hindus to have more children is a form of protest”.
Oh yeah! Inspired that I am by his dumb pronouncement, I sure am gonna hump away to glory, raising my band of saffronized trishul-toting bunch of malnourished brats. This brings into perspective some basic issues on our political leaders. First of all, I would like to see the reaction of the constituents who elected this bozo who doesn’t seem to understand the basic principles of economics. He claims to understand the virtuosity of our famed family planning slogan – Chhota Parivar, Sukhi Parivar (Small Family, Happy Family) but mistakes the measure of happiness by directly correlating it with being a majority.
Although Malthus has been proven wrong by technological advances of man, Mr.Khaire should be reminded that these technological contributions were made in nations that employed development of human capital and skills rather than mere increase in human numbers. I have always believed that economic development of a nation depended primarily on its ability to manage human resources by keeping a strict control on its population growth. Even a simple villager in the remotest corner of the Indian villages is now convinced by the argument that a well nourished and educated child is far better than a brood of wailing, undisciplined, malnourished discontented brats.
I wonder why Mr.Khaire did not try to suggest that we adopt polygamy in order to quadruple our hopes of increasing the Hindu populace. Frankly, I do not mind being in the minority as long as we are intellectually superior and held in high regard by the corresponding majority. I have noticed the respect minority Indians (note the absence of religious connotation) command in a diverse melting pot of American culture.
I also totally refute his highly ludicrous allegation that the children-producing factory is a planned strategy by the Muslims because I feel the number of children a family has, is directly correlated to its socio-economic condition. Muslims are more likely to be poor and uneducated in India, hence the skew in family sizes. I have seen many Muslims in the upper crust of the society who look down upon polygamy and a brood of spoiled brats. We have to take steps to ameliorate the Muslim community’s economic status and not join in the fun of imitating their mistakes.
The myth that greater number of hands in the family will contribute better to the family welfare has been proven wrong in increasing urbanization of today’s youth who do not necessarily walk in their family business shoes and further more, more children means widespread dispersion of scarce resources (Why am I repeating this. This is Economics 101, for heaven’s sake!).
But important things first, reexamine the Sena’s qualification criterion for a party ticket. If qualities of being a dumb ass, moronic, unaware nincompoop are on the top of the list, better castigate the senile Thackeray for harboring idiots detrimental to the nation’s economic health. If we have such ill-informed buggers in the Parliament, there are bound to be thousands more outside who will heed to such a stupid call.
