“Professional Canadian blogger was detained, strip searched, and eventually turned away at the US border for saying (among other things) he blogged for a living” [via Kottke]
I wonder if Narendra Modi admitted he blogs for a living :)

Do mean to say we are going to be deported soon?!?
Its time the US comes up with some plausible reasons for denying visas.

The US paranoia of intensely securing its borders is causing several absurd and patently unfair situations where innocent folks are being victimized. To compare that to the blood-drenched antics of Narendra Modi is not funny. It is pathetic.
I cannot understand how some of us can be apologists for heinous criminals (just because the mob voted for them) and still maintain that they don’t approve of his actions. Make no mistake - Narendra Modi is more popular than a rock star in Gujarat. All because he valiantly led the mob in the murders of innocents and defended its perpetrators. Democracy fails us some times. Gujarat might be a classic case where mob venality trumps every aspect of civilized human behavior.
It is a shame that there are several supporters of the mob here in the US – who have for years championed Advani and Modi. These scumbags do not deserve to live in the US. The US should classify the Modi government as a rogue, terrorist state and any individual or group who contributes to their cause should be persecuted like the wicked financiers who financed Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and Osama.
Inviting Modi to speak at a function and fete him is much worse than having an event to congratulate Charles Manson or the BTK murderers on their latest achievements. Could it be that the mobs who support Modi/Advani are themselves closet murderers who do not have the guts to go and do it in public?

Queer - Was logical reasoning ever a part of the visa issual process?
Credible Word - I guess you have lot of misdirected anger. You hate Modi with a passion when there are others who deserver that honor. I agree that Modi is a despicable person and I would never condone his practices. But I suggest you read this article with a cool mind…reflects my views completely.

I read the article linked to ur comment, the one by B.Raman. I am still finding it hard to digest that this denial might have its origin in India and provoked by indian politicians. First it was an italian PM, now a foreign intervention in our internal politics. What next?
PS - remember you once wrote an article about the difference between the male and female brain; and how more males are into politics than males. In the recent issue of Time (US), there is an article about the same. check it out when you can.

Queer - It was exactly that intervention that I protested about. Sadly people mistook that as approval for Modi’s policies. Regards the article in Time, it already is a big issue in the blogosphere. Sadly no one gives me credit for bringing it up and for once, I am glad :)
