It was so close. It’s been almost three years since I got my last ticket and I was ready to step into a blemish-free insurance record until I got pulled over for speeding on Saturday. The fact that I got pulled over hardly couple of miles from my home and while still on campus doesn’t hurt as much as the speed I was caught for – doing 48 in a 35 mph zone. Darn! Kids get away for going faster than that on their bikes. Ok! That’s a stretch but you must understand how it feels.
Of course, a speeding ticket in no great shakes; almost everyone I know has a couple; except my ex-roomie ultra-safe 10’o clock-on-the-wheel Praveen. The other extreme is my other ex-roomie Vivek who seem to collect speeding tickets like people collect stamps including one for doing 98 in a 65 zone. Now that’s what I call a ticket and not for a speed that a horse can run at. Damn embarrassing, I say. I don’t know how much I am set back for until I go to the court (within 10 days as the ticket ominously warns me).

Sorry about the ticket - it always sucks to get one, no matter what speed. Hopefully, it won’t make a big dent in your pocket. Does Texas have a system whereby you can make a deal at the court ie plead guilty to a lesser speed (usually around 10mph less and only 2 points instead of 4) and agree to pay the fines and court fees for that speed?

Bongo, Lets see if I can cut a deal. I managed to get a deal last time around so lets hope I get let off easily this time.
Sqrlnt, the irony is not lost on me :) quite observant of you.
Confused, yeah yeah…get one soon and then we’ll compete.
