Here I am putting off buying a digital camera hoping for rise in the quality, technology, or my pecuniary condition. I have expensive tastes, especially in the photography department. I am eyeing the Nikon D70 or Sony CyberShot DSC-F828 unless something much robust comes along , both of which are miles beyond my reach right now. But that hasn’t stopped the enthusiasts from developing the technology. The camera pixel gang also joins the Gig Gang. Clarity taken to a whole new level as seen in inventor Clifford Ross’s newest invention. For serious photographers, detail is extremely important and they know that if clarity is lost, all their mumbo-jumbo about concept, composition, and subject falls flat. Ross eliminates that anomaly [via Boing Boing].
Now let me see, if I get my first digital camera soon or I am in wait for at least 2-3 years more.

Join the club mate. I’ve been waiting for a “capable but affordable” prosumer camera for a while now.
Wonder if the “chasm of performance” will be crossed in the next few years. If LG can launch a 7MP cam-phone, a 7MP prosumer camera shouldn’t be out of our reach (soon!). Tune in to http://dpreview.com. It’s my single infosource on digicams.

LOL … seems like everyones waiting (I am too) .. until now I had my eyes on the super-zoom range of digicams (10x-12x optical) .. but now I am thinking I will settle for a simple 3x .. which is small .. so I can carry it anywhere easily.
Also … laptop okay now? (Is there a God?)

What a change from the Amazon Wish list fad that is going around! :) (just kidding of course!)
Indeed you do have good taste. A colleague of mine bought the D70, but for his kind of use I dont know what he can do with it other than to impress co-passengers on a train! :D Still it had me salivating, even though I still pull his legs for what I call “his vanity”! :)

Toro - Thanks for the link. But somehow LG doesn’t conjure up images of a good photo company and I am quite brand conscious at least in regards of photography.
Deepa - I definitely can tell you that my wait is of a similar kind. Both the cameras I want are already out and are just the thing I need.
Anya - Its portability versus power but that has always been the dilemma. Regards laptop, it strangely seems to work after I turned off hardware acceleration and checked off write combining. But I hope its a software issue coz I plan to reformat soon.
Alpha - Brother has already bestowed enough gifts to fulfil the “kartavya” of a younger brother…I hope something starts going from my way to him soon. To ask for anything else would be pure shameful.
Kiran - That camera is a piece of art…and am talking about the pictures it takes. But expected that from Nikon. I have a Nikon film camera right now so can be brand loyal too.

Anita - Kalyan’s pictures makes me want that camera real bad. I bet you must have had an opportunity to work with his camera.
